How Cloud Sync Works in Practice

Scoring works offline. You can open LineaScore and run a full assessment — scores, findings, recommendations — without an account, and everything is saved locally in your browser as you go. The moment you sign in, that work syncs to your account and becomes available on any other device you log into. Sign in on a new laptop and your clients are already there.

Sync is automatic. There's no "save to cloud" button to remember: completing or updating an assessment while signed in pushes the latest version — scores, notes, and the generated report — to your account. Each synced assessment carries a small cloud badge on the dashboard so you can see at a glance what's backed up and what's still local only.

Organized Around the Client, Not the File

Instead of a folder of dated documents, your assessments live in a dashboard organized by client and assessment date. Finding last quarter's review for a specific client is a matter of scanning the list, not digging through a shared drive. A slot counter shows how many of your cloud assessments you've used against your plan's limit, so you always know where you stand.

Your assessments are private to your account — they aren't visible to other users. And because every assessment can still be exported to and imported from a JSON file, cloud sync never locks your data in: you can pull a full backup, move a record between accounts, or archive an engagement locally whenever you want.

What History Tracking Unlocks

On the Pro plan, cloud sync becomes a longitudinal record. Re-assess the same client next quarter and you can compare the two side by side — watching a domain move from Priority to Adequate as remediation lands. When a client asks "are we actually better off than last year?", you have the answer in their own environment: Backups went from S1 to S3, MFA coverage from S2 to S4.

That before-and-after is the most persuasive thing an advisor can bring to a business review. It reframes the relationship from "here's what we did" to "here's the measurable improvement" — and it only exists if every assessment is retained and comparable, which is exactly what synced history provides.

Why It Matters for a Multi-Client Practice

For an MSP or IT consultant, cloud sync turns a pile of individual assessments into a managed portfolio. Every client has a current, accessible record you can pull up mid-conversation. Nothing depends on a specific laptop still working, or on a staff member who left not having walked off with the only copy. The organized history you build becomes an asset of the practice, not of any one person's file system.
